Why Solar

Why Now

The amount of sunlight that strikes the earth's surface in an hour and a half is enough to handle the entire world's energy consumption for a full year. Solar technologies convert sunlight into electrical energy either through photovoltaic (PV) panels or through mirrors that concentrate solar radiation. This energy can be used to generate electricity or be stored in batteries or thermal storage.

We've got you covered.

From Orlando to Florida’s west coast and throughout the greater Tampa Bay area, our customers and clients rely on us to provide the contracting services they need.

Solar radiation is light – also known as electromagnetic radiation – that is emitted by the sun. While every location on Earth receives some sunlight over a year, the amount of solar radiation that reaches any one spot on the Earth’s surface varies. Solar technologies capture this radiation and turn it into useful forms of energy. In Florida, we are fortunate to have an abundance of year-round sunlight with mostly clear skies – that combination makes Florida an exceptional location for solar power generation.

Photovoltaics Basics

You are most likely familiar with PV solar panels. When the sun shines onto a solar panel, energy from the sunlight is absorbed by the PV cells in the panel. This energy creates electrical charges that move in response to an internal electrical field in the cell, causing electricity to flow.

Solar power is energy from the sun that is converted into thermal or electrical energy. Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source available, and the U.S. has some of the richest solar resources in the world. Solar technologies can harness this energy for a variety of uses, including generating electricity, providing light or a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for domestic, commercial, or industrial use.

Solar energy is a very flexible energy technology: It can be built as distributed generation (located at or near the point of use) or as a central-station, utility-scale solar power plant (similar to traditional power plants). Both methods can also store the energy they produce for distribution after the sun sets, using cutting-edge solar + storage technologies. Solar exists within a complex and interrelated electricity system in the U.S., working alongside other technologies like wind power to transition the U.S. to a clean energy economy. Florida is a leader in solar power generation, ranging from typical rooftop installations to mega power company solar farms.

The Solar Market Today

More than 97 gigawatts (GW) of solar are installed in the U.S., enough to power 17.7 million homes. Over the last decade, the country’s solar market has grown at an average rate of 42% each year. There are more than 2.7 million individual solar installations in the U.S., ranging from small home rooftop systems to large utility-scale systems that add hundreds of megawatts of clean electricity to the power grid.

Why Solution Source?

The Solution Source Advantage. Not only is Solution Source a premier provider of solar power systems, we are also state-certified and licensed HVAC, electrical, roofing and general contractors. What does that mean to you? It means that not only can we provide renewable energy power, we can also provide in partnership with your local utility company a complete energy efficiency evaluation and the installation of new and updated energy-efficient, high-SEER HVAC systems, insulation, roofing materials, electric vehicle charging stations, insulated windows and doors, backup power via batteries or generators, and electrical wiring and panel upgrades.

While most other solar companies subcontract out the installation, electrical wiring and roofing components, Solution Source completes all these activities with background-checked, in-house employees.

Solution Source only works with the solar industry’s leading and most trusted manufacturers. All our equipment has been pre-qualified based on reliability and performance history and is fully backed by performance guarantees. Here are just a few of our manufacturing partners:
